In 2020, I wrote this column for The Paris Review Daily. This essay was a finalist for a 2019 National Magazine Award for feature writing. This one received a 2016 Pushcart Prize. This one was selected for publication in Best American Essays 2016. I’ve been awarded fellowships and residencies from PioneerWorks, the Millay Colony for the Arts, Art OMI, the Black Mountain Institute, and others.
